The SDIC Adolescent Taskforce Subcommittee was established in January of 2007 to address immunization issues impacting adolescents, “tweens,” teens and young adults ages 10-21. The purpose of this subcommittee is to promote immunizations in this age group and to promote the 11-12 year-old doctor visit through outreach in the community.
The SDIC Adolescent Taskforce meets on the first Monday of every other month in the Harbor Room of the Rosecrans Health complex located at 3851 Rosecrans St., San Diego, CA 92110. Facilitated by Christine A. Garcia, MPH, Community Health Promotion Specialist with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Immunization Branch, this group provides a forum to discuss adolescent health issues especially related to immunizations.
The goals of the taskforce for 2007-2008 include:
- Lead and promote events for Preteen Vaccine Week 2008
- Review and revise previous adolescent immunization materials and develop new materials as needed
- Explore social networking websites for preteens and teens as a venue to disseminate immunization information
If you are interested in becoming a member of this committee, please contact the Adolescent Taskforce Subcommittee Chair, Christine A. Garcia at christine.garcia@sdcounty.ca.gov or (619) 692-8805.
