  HISTORY OF THE SDIC

The San Diego Immunization Coalition (SDIC) formerly (I-3) has been active since 1992, making it one of the oldest continuously operating immunization coalitions in the nation. The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency’s Immunization Branch has historically been the lead agency for the coalition, providing staff support and State and local resources. The Advisory Council, which includes all partners in the Coalition, is led by two co-chairs elected every two years from and by the membership.

Past co-chairs have demonstrated the broad community support that San Diego County residents give to immunization, and include:

  • Cheri Fidler, Children’s Hospital and Health Center
  • Dr. Bron Anders, Southern Indian Health Center/East County Community Health Center
  • Sylvia Wallace, Kaiser Permanente San Diego
  • Maria Alvarez, San Ysidro Health Center
  • Mary Cruz, Sharp HealthCare/Por La Vida/Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center
  • Dr. Glenn Kellog, Rotary Internacional
  • Michelle DeGuire, University of California San Diego Division of Community Pediatrics
  • Dr. Sylvia Micik, American Academy of Pediatrics, San Diego Chapter
  • Dr. Linda Hill, Linda Vista Health Care Center/UCSD School of Medicine/SDSU-GSPH
