NIIW / TIM 2007
|
|
This
year, National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) occurs on April 21
- 28, 2007 and May is
Toddler Immunization Month (TIM).
NIIW and TIM are held annually to help raise awareness
of the importance of childhood immunizations in protecting children's
health. This year's theme is "Up
to Date? Celebrate!" and our key messages are
geared to encourage parents to check that their babies have completed
the full series of recommended childhood immunizations. Completing
the series on time is a great reason to CELEBRATE!
If you are not sure if your child is up to date, ask your health
care professional about which shots they may need. With high immunization
coverage levels, our community will experience fewer vaccine-preventable
diseases.
Local NIIW and TIM events include:
- 4/24
- Proclamation by County Board of Supervisors.
On Tuesday, April 24, County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price presented
a proclamation in support of NIIW/TIM
to Ms. Lisa Duncan and Mr. Charlie Huff-McTyer, Co-Chairs of the
San Diego Immunization Initiative (I-3), a local coalition that
supports immunization activities across the county. In the document,
County Board of Supervisors Chairman
Ron Roberts and the entire Board proclaimed April 21-28 as National
Infant Immunization Week and May as Toddler
Immunization Month in San Diego County.
Our recipients, Charlie and Lisa, talked about this year’s
NIIW/TIM theme,
“Up To Date? Celebrate!”
and reminded the audience of the importance of
childhood immunizations and of adults getting immunized, too,
to help protect everyone in the community. Both Supervisor Slater-Price
and Chairman Roberts also spoke in strong support of immunizations.
