  IMMUNIZATION RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADULTS AND SENIORS

Every Body Needs Immunizations!

One vaccine that we all need throughout our lives is the Td, or tetanus-diphtheria immunization. A booster dose is recommended every 10 years, and is important for protection whether you are 19 or 90. Other vaccines adults may need, depending on their health status, work, recreation or travel include:

Hepatitis B - recommended for health care workers, for persons who come into contact with blood or blood products, and for those with multiple sex partners.

Hepatitis A - recommended for travelers to developing countries.

Meningococcal meningitis vaccine - recommended for some freshmen college students.

Pneumococcal pneumonia and influenza vaccines - recommended for persons with heart, lung and other health conditions, including asthma.

Adults aged 50 and above are recommended to get the annual flu vaccine; the pneumococcal vaccine is a one-time dose needed by seniors 65 and above.

And the list goes on! Your health care provider is your best resource for evaluating your risks and recommending the protection you need.

For recorded information about adult immunizations, please call the Adult Immunization Information Line at 1-(877) 358-0202. This information is updated periodically. You can leave a brief, non-urgent message and your call will be returned within a few days.
