Press Release: Meningitis Angels Supports CDC on Preteen Immunization Campaign
It is back to school and the time for vaccine preventable diseases to rear their ugly little heads. Almost all of those diseases are vaccine preventable. It is important that preteens see their health care providers and received those important immunizations. There are newly recommended immunizations and boosters for this age group."

Meningitis Angels along with many other health organizations were invited to partner with the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases as they launched a Preteen Vaccine Campaign aimed at promoting vaccination of preteens (11-12 year olds) to protect against serious, sometimes life-threatening diseases such as pertussis (whooping cough), meningitis, tetanus, diphtheria, and cervical cancer.

No Connection Between Childhood Vaccinations and Type 1 Diabetes

Researchers evaluated all the children in Denmark born between 1/1/90 and 12/31/00 and determined there was no causal relationship between the vaccinations and type 1 diabetes. For more information, go to the New England Journal of Medicine website (http://www.nejm.org) and search for “Childhood Vaccination and Type 1 Diabetes.
