Please read this page before you call the Help Desk! You may find
out that that you’re not alone in having this problem and
that the solution has already been found!
Tips for all Users:
Get an “A+” on your data entry!
Be careful typing the patient’s name. If you accidentally
put a space in the beginning, middle or at the end of a person’s
name it will affect future searches and the successful linking of
this patient.
Make sure that your computer’s date setting is working
properly!
If your computer’s date is not working correctly, the dates
that you administer shots or run reminder/recall reports may show
up in the activity log as happening before the child was born! Keep
your computer in good working order so that these errors don’t
happen!
For County Public Health Center PHIS
users:
SDIR users will need to find and adopt
the PHIS record to their own patient ‘home’ record.
The process is as follows:
- After entering the patient in PHIS, search for the individual
in SDIR
- Find and Select the 'grey' record (PHIS records will be grey
Choose "Copy to Above" to copy the 'grey' record and
create a 'home' record
Please note:
• If you edit a patient's demographic information in PHIS
after you have created your own home record in SDIR, you will
have to find the grey PHIS record again and repeat the "Copy
to Above" to have the edits show up in SDIR.
• Archiving or deleting a record in PHIS will not archive
it in SDIR. This activity will have to be done separately in each
of the different systems.
• Please note that in order for PHIS data to be transferred
to SDIR, users must indicate that the episode is for Immunizations.
General Services’ episodes will not be transferred to SDIR.
Troubleshooting: We’ve collected this wisdom when
working out problems with users:
General problems:
For users who notice that they are having trouble getting
the mouse to accurately check in a box, there are 2 possible issues
and solutions:
- One is the system's mouse setting on your desktop which are
available from the control panel. Check the settings on the Motion
tab. Under speed, the default is the middle, and Acceleration
is Medium. Other settings could make the mouse harder to control.
- The other possibility is with the mouse itself. Check to see
if the mouse needs to be cleaned. This is necessary with mice
that use balls to control the movement. If it has a ball, open
up it up on the bottom, and remove the ball. Check the 3 rollers
inside. If they have dust and dirt caked on them in a little stripe
down the middle, clean them. Sometimes this dirt can make the
mouse seem to stick at certain positions, making precise movement
difficult.
Windows XP users:
How to correct misaligned labels on the page: This
may still be occurring on those computers that have either Windows
2000 or Windows XP and Acrobat version 6 due to a "print"
setting. To correct the problem, after selecting "file"
"print" from the menu bar look about 2/3 of the way down
the page and locate the "Page Scaling" option. Click on
the arrow to the right and change this setting to "None"
then click on "Ok".
